Finding Your Roots - Enlightening Heartwarming

Finding Your Roots - Yasir Qadhi, Rick Warren, Angela Buchdahl. Three people from diverse religious backgrounds discover their roots - their family ancestry.

What these people have in common, all have grown up in America. In our journey of discovery, who we are is discovered within....however our family identity is found in our ancestors.

A Jewish Rabbi, a Muslim Imam and Pastor, three people choose a life in service that fits with who they are as people. A most interesting and enlightening documentary.

Not only has their genealogy been traced, they were invited to take a DNA test to see where their ancestors came from.

'The more science we understand, the more I am amazed at God's creation. The more we understand science, the more we realise how everything is finely tuned. It could not be an accident.' Rick Warren

'I think as we study DNA Chromosome structure more, I think that we will be able to tell more about our ancestors - where they came from, ethnicities - I think that is something we can benefit from science.' Yasir Qadhi

'Ultimately my sense of faith leads me to feeling that we are all in some ways really connected to each other. That we are all one people and we might have ended up in different parts of the world, different colours, different foods but in some ways we are all united in the sense of humanity. 'Angela Buchdahl

Three spiritual leaders continue their unshakable faith in God.

'Finding Your Roots examines the histories and family genealogies of a number of well-known personalities. But everyone has a story. Whether it's anecdotes about ancestors from generations past, or stories of recent relatives, each of us has a rich, unique genealogical heritage to share.'

In this documentary three people from America's media and entertainment. CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Actor and Comedienne Margaret Cho and Martha Stewart.

These people are first or second generation immigrants.

Henry Louis Gates Junior has brought to the people a powerful documentary of factual information that allows everyone to consider that we might not be born from where our ancestors are from, and our roots are significant in the greater scheme of things. In a time where there has been division and strife, just in learning from these discoveries, we are reminded that through discovering our roots, we are more united as family. The wealth of our history completes the missing pieces.

In the destruction of the World Trade Centre on 9/11, there was also the destruction of tens of thousands of birth and marriage records of people in America. Today, we learn that there are people who have maintained records around the world allowing people to trace their family tree.
